Finance Assistant

Role Summary:

As a Finance Assistant at Seriös Group, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties and providing essential assistance to our finance function as we embark on the next chapter of our growth journey.  

The Finance Assistant position will play a crucial role in supporting the finance team by performing various administrative and financial tasks. The ideal candidate will be a hardworking and conscientious individual with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. They should have a keen aptitude for attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be fully competent with MS Office, with strong Excel skills. Prior experience using Xero and Sage Payroll is desirable.   

You will naturally have a passion for identifying areas for process improvement and will ensure an efficient, best practice approach across all areas of your role.   

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Handle various administration tasks across the department, including data entry, filing, and maintaining records. 

  • Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks and contribute to the overall efficiency of the department. 

  • Conducting weekly and monthly timesheet reports, undertaking checks to ensure hours recorded are accurate and querying inaccuracies.  

  • Ensuring accurate and timely payment of supplier invoices.  

  • Compile monthly and quarterly financial reporting figures in line with requirements. 

  • Ensuring the Company’s payroll system and relevant information are always up to date and accurate.  

  • Conduct month end processes to ensure all tasks are completed correctly and on time.  

  • Update cash flow and forecasting.  

  • Drafting of letters as appropriate, including pension enrolment letters.  

  • Ensure accuracy and processing of expenses in line with Company policy.  

  • Conduct general administration duties as required from time to time. 

  • Manage and track monthly spending across the Company.  

  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail in all financial and administrative activities. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with key internal and external stakeholders.  

  • Utilise MS Office applications, particularly Excel, to perform financial calculations, analysis, and reporting. 

  • Work under own initiative, prioritise tasks effectively, and meet deadlines with excellent organisational skills.

Person specification: 

  • Hardworking and conscientious individual with the ability to work well both individually and as part of a team.   

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.   

  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong aptitude for accuracy in financial and administrative tasks.  


  • 2+ years’ experience in a finance-related role or similar administrative position is preferred.   

  • AAT L3 qualified or studying towards AAT L3 qualification.   

  • Proficient in using MS Office applications, particularly Excel.   

  • Ability to work independently, use own initiative, and prioritise workload effectively. Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
