Seriös Group is pleased to announce that we have been officially recognised as a DataIQ Partner, further strengthening our role as an enabler within the data community. The partnership aligns with our mission to change how organisations build modern, AI ready data capabilities.
To mark the partnership, DataIQ invited our Founder & CEO, Lee Rorison, to take part in a Q&A covering data and AI leadership, his career and the delivery principles behind Seriös Group. The conversation also covers what Lee believes leaders need to prioritise over the next 12 to 24 months as organisations move from testing ideas to delivering measurable results.
Reflecting on the early part of his career in consulting, Lee discusses building data platforms and warehouses for large organisations as part of major digital transformation programmes. Over time, he saw familiar problems repeat across the industry. Delivery was slow and expensive. Work was often split across multiple vendors, with teams spending too much time getting the basics in place, only to end up with platforms that were hard to manage and get value from. In many cases, the issue wasn’t the technology, but the architecture, ownership and how success was measured.
These experiences led to the founding of Seriös Group in 2020 with a clear philosophy: outcomes first, technology agnostic and rapid delivery without compromising on quality. The ambition was to create a more consistent way to deliver modern data platforms that organisations can govern properly and rely on to support decision making.
Lee shared his view of what the next couple of years will demand from data and AI leaders. He expects more discipline around value and delivery, with governance, trust and measurable results taking priority. Leaders will need clearer ownership, stronger ways of working and a tighter link between delivery and business priorities.
A consistent point Lee shares throughout the conversation is that AI only delivers accurte results when the data underneath it is reliable. If data is inconsistent, poorly governed or difficult to access, results quickly fall apart and AI simply amplifies those issues. For Lee, strong data foundations are not a blocker to progress, but what make progress possible.
Lee also discusses one of the projects he is most proud of: the development of Seriös ONE, our metadata-driven, AI data solution technology. Built to address the challenges many organisations still face; fragmented data, inconsistent governance and unscalable data platforms. This slows delivery, increases cost and makes data platforms harder to maintain.
Seriös ONE takes a different approach, defining platforms through structured metadata and configuration rather than relying on manual code. This allows pipelines, governance rules, quality checks and documentation to be generated and maintained automatically, improving consistency and reducing the burden on engineering teams. It also helps teams spend more time on higher-value work that supports better decision making.
Beyond delivery, Lee also shares with DataIQ what good leadership looks like within data and AI teams. It’s not just about technical skills but being clear on direction and the ability to simplify complex problems into repeatable ways of working. He also shares a piece of non-traditional advice for aspiring leaders: stay open-minded and say yes to opportunities that sit outside your planned path. In a fast-moving field, adaptability and learning from unexpected experiences can matter just as much as technical depth.
As a DataIQ Partner, we look forward to sharing more insights, contributing to the community and continuing to support organisations as they strengthen their data foundations.
