Background
JLL is shaping the future of real estate for a better world through an innovative, intelligent and sustainable approach. Supported by a large global team of BI analysts, who provide insights that support their clients to optimise operations.
Experts in Data Solutions, Seriös Group has a long-standing partnership with JLL, working across their major client accounts and working closely with teams across the business. When JLL’s technical function began a major transformation of its own data operations, from an on-premises warehouse to a cloud platform - Databricks, we were brought in to help deliver it. By combining our engineering expertise with practical enablement from their BI team, Seriös Group is playing a key role in reshaping how JLL manages and uses data at scale.
Challenge
JLL manages global real estate portfolios for clients within sectors such as the financial, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, retail and industrial industries. Business-critical data is essential to its operations, so they needed a scalable, efficient platform to ensure timely, reliable data access. Its legacy on-premise solution could no longer meet these demands, prompting a strategic shift to the cloud.
The migration prompted a broader review of JLL’s data operations, with the aim of increasing team through investment in modern cloud infrastructure to grow capability at scale and enable organisation wide actionable insights. This shift would reduce reliance on bespoke dashboards and data models built to meet individual client SLAs, an approach that had led to duplicated effort, inconsistent service, and a fragmented BI landscape.
While data engineering supported business-as-usual activity, it lacked scalability. The heavy dependence on Alteryx for data transformation introduced additional costs, inefficient queries, inconsistent outputs, and unreliable performance.
Databricks’ ‘pay-for-what-you-use’ model made these inefficiencies unsustainable in the new environment. JLL therefore needed a unified, central data platform powering all accounts, providing shared access to core data with the flexibility for customisation. This would eliminate redundancy, reduce cost, and streamline data operations. JLL also needed to upskill its analysts, reducing reliance on legacy tools and making full use of its new data platform.
Solution
- Strategic guidance: Created a standard migration framework, including target architecture, Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Delivery (CD), and testing protocols, aligned with JLL’s broader tech strategy.
 - Skills enablement: Step-by-step migration playbook with interactive "try it now" sections, tailored for varying skill levels. To maximise reach and adoption, the playbook was launched in dedicated office hours for the first wave of migrating accounts and integrated into JLL’s generative AI platform.
 - Hands-on support: To speed up delivery, we focused effort on accounts without dedicated BI teams, migrating around 60 client accounts in the first wave, while refining documentation and offering on-demand expertise to the BI team for high-priority accounts.

Impact
The programme has already delivered strong results. We’ve improved migration efficiency by 75% on average and replaced Alteryx workflows with Databricks Notebooks. Support materials have seen high engagement, over 1,000 views with an average of four views per user, indicating strong uptake. Ahead of the next stage of migrations, we’re refining documentation and building a centralised monitoring system to highlight common issues, target support, and create future training, to maximise resource and outcomes.
“This transformation wasn’t just about moving to the cloud, it was about rethinking how we manage and use data across our global accounts. Seriös Group brought the technical depth and practical support we needed to make that shift. Their migration framework, hands-on delivery, and enablement tools helped us accelerate adoption, reduce inefficiencies, and empower our BI teams to work smarter.”
Conclusion
Seriös Group’s partnership with JLL is helping to modernise and streamline data operations across the business. By combining strategic guidance, practical tools, and hands-on support, we’ve accelerated migration, reduced inefficiencies, and supported their teams to make the most of their data. As the programme continues, we’re focused on scaling impact and driving long-term value.
